Huddersfield 3 - 2 Bournemouth
League 1
22-01-2005

It seemed a long time coming but 3 points and 3 goals were much welcome!!

For those who didn’t go, it certainly was a game of two halves. Town totally dominated the 1st half and really deserved to be 3-1 ahead. At 2-0, Town were cruising by when Brown switched off at the far post, the cherries were back in it, just before the break. But in stoppage time, new loan man Luke Beckett fired home Towns 3rd to complete an impressive home debut.

2nd Half, Town really should have gone 4-1 ahead, a great move between Abbott and Booth saw Pavs shot from the narrow angle blast just over the bar. A bad miss really and Town were under pressure pretty much from that point onwards.

Bournemouth aren’t 6th for nothing and they stepped up a gear and had Town really stretched. The grabbed a lifeline goal to make it 3-2 and Town defence was all over the place at times but they held out and resisted everything else the Reds could throw at us.

For me,

Rachubka does not appear to have the confidence of his defence
Brown, poor game when put put under pressure
Edwards, had a good game, got stretched 2nd half
Sodje, some great challenges and Headers,
Yates, Looked stead but we got pulled all over 2nd half
Folwer, welcomed back and held midfield really well
Worthington, again played ok
Carrs, played ok , some stray passing again
Abbott, scored from the spot, missed a good chance and was pretty quiet
Beckett, 2 good goals, should have got a Hat trick
Booth, good to have back, helped out up front and at the back
Schofield on for Abbott (strange one).. didn’t do anything much, shot wide
Ahmed for Folwer, only touched the ball a couple of times

Great win lads!! Boy we needed it!!
