Huddersfield 1 - 0 Blackpool
League 1
19-02-2005

Well I thought id turned up at an academy game when I heard the team sheet and was a tad worried that the big gamble might not pay off. However I was wrong and after less than 2 mins the kids had the goal which did so much for their confidence. It was scored incidentally by I think the older player, loan hit man Luke Beckett.

Blackpool certainly made of it but the battling qualities of Towns academy products was there for all to see. All apart from one person in my opinion. John McAliskley, a young man with talent but IMO is such a lazy arse and one thing Town fans hate more any thing is a player who wanders around and does not give 100%. My opinion of him is just that. His body language is all wrong, and at times he really does not look interested. He is a skillful kid and every now and then does great things but for some reason, he seems to think he does not have to do more and more unbelievable is the manger seems to love him!

He did well to win the penalty but why oh why did Beckett not take it. I actually expected him to score, he just never looked confident at all that showed with such a "crap penalty" as Jacko put it.

Brandon, harshly sent off in some eyes, at the time I thought it was the right decision as soon as he made the tackle but apparently He was pulled back first so will be interesting to see it again.

It was a nail biter alright and Town did play some really good football at times with Ahmed in the middle who was outstanding! My Man of the match by a long way.

After the sending off, we still created chances, and missed them however with the penalty being the best one to go 2-0 up. Jacko changed things around and took macca off, and only played 1 up front. Yes we won but he restricted our play and we didn't have any outlet up front at all.

But we hung on for a vital 3 points!! I think every Town fan should be proud of those lads who worked their socks off today!! Well nearly all:-))
