Huddersfield 1 - 4 Scunthorpe League 1 02-09-2005Well, what a shambles..
A number of things come to mind this evening for me..
Firstly a dubious penalty, it wasn't but I don't blame the ref for giving it. Id like to have heard what the linesman said but I don't think it was one. Having said that, if your keeper comes flying out like that, the striker is always going to do down and as it was another silly Rachubka decision to do that and that but us on the back burner early on.
It knocked the stuffing out of Town and we didn't really create anything of any note. Scunthorpe who looked well worthy winner opened up our sorry defence time after time and it was only a matter of time before they increased their lead, which they did courtesy of a lapse in concentration from Worthington I think it was in the middle of the park and their skilful young forward scored with ease for a deserved 2-0 lead.
2nd half, Town had a great chance to get back in the game early on but the very ineffective GTF fluffed it.
Town were really struggling to create anything and the game was crying out for changes.
We got lucky when Brandon (my Town MOTM) was tripped and won us a life line.
Pav duly scored. At this point I feel was the crucial stage. Jacko instead of sending on his subs to attack them, simply stood there stubborn and did nothing. So we scored, we still were not opening them up and needed changes but I feel that Jackson failed the team at that point.
Scunny retook the initiative and scored again. Still no movement from the boss.
It was no surprise when they increased their lead to give them an impressive 4-1 win and inflict Town 1st defeat since last December and their heaviest at home for quite some time.
Full credit to the Iron, they were far better and more hungry. The defended as a team, closed Town down and every man worked their socks off for each other and look certain to be the surprise package of this division.
At the start of the game, the dreaded Manager of the month was awarded and that ponse of a man Paul Fletcher was banging on about Town being top of the league, which will have only fired up the opposition as it did last time
Jacko won such an accolade. We were hoping they wouldn't do that before the
game, but they couldn't help themselves.
I'm sure Laws will have said, listen to that, you go and stick that right up em...
Which they did.
Its not just the Humiliating manor of the defeat but how will that effect the whole season that worries me.
GTF was useless up front, I am starting to see why Lincoln (from league 2) released him. By Mark Overend from the Blue Army mailing list. |
